Draft New Residential Development Design Guide SPD December 2011
The aim of the draft Supplementary Planning Document is to ensure that a high quality of new residential developments is achieved throughout the borough of Milton Keynes. It will both serve as a Development Management tool in assessing planning proposals and will also provide clear direction to developers as to what the Council expects in terms of design quality for new residential developments. The draft SPD provides guidance regarding the character of new development, streets, parking and detailed design appearance of buildings amongst other design elements that make up residential neighbourhoods. The draft SPD may be amended prior to adoption, to take into account issues raised during this consultation period.
The Council has prepared a screening statement for Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Sustainability Appraisal (SA), Equalities Impact Assessment (EqIA), and Habitats Directive Appropriate Assessment (AA). Natural England, English Heritage and the Environment Agency have been consulted. In the light of the comments received, the Council has concluded that no SEA/SA/EqIA/AA is required. The draft SPD will be available for consultation from Thursday 22nd December 2011 until 5.15 pm Monday 13th February 2012. Any person may make representations about the Council’s proposals for the SPD within this consultation period.
